Resin is what a mahjong tile looks like when the material is the design. Poured, not laminated, so the colour and the pearl movement run through the whole body rather than sitting in a layer near the face.

One layer only, for now. Multi-layer resin is not something we can hold tolerance on yet, so a resin set is a single colour through the tile. If you need the side of the tile to read as a band, that is the acrylic line, which goes up to four layers.

What “jade colour” means here

The finish is a translucent pearl — the surface catches light in soft patches that move as the tile is turned, which is what reads as jade from across a table. It is not a printed pattern; it is the body itself.

Every set is matched to a Pantone you nominate. Two things to know before you pick one:

  • Translucent colours read darker on a tile than on paper. A pale Pantone can come back as a milky grey. Ask for a physical sample against your reference.
  • Batch matching has a tolerance. Resin is poured, so a reorder months later will be close but not identical. Keep a master sample, or commit to one large run.

Size and depth

36.5 × 25.4 mm face, 11 mm deep — the American standard footprint, a millimetre or so thicker than the acrylic equivalent. That extra depth is what gives the tile its weight in the hand, and it is the reason a resin set feels different before anyone looks at it.

Racks, pushers and cases are cut to this footprint, so a resin set and an acrylic set can share the same accessories if the depths are close. Tell us which other product the set ships with and we size the case around the pair.

The face, same as the acrylic line

Engraved 0.3–0.5 mm and colour-filled by UV print — the same two-step process, for the same reason: the colour sits inside the groove instead of on top of it, so a decade of shuffling does not wear the design away. Multi-colour artwork is filled in one pass.

Finished resin tiles — the pearl movement is in the body, not printed on it.

How pricing works

Price per set moves with colour (a Pantone match is mixed and tested before the run), print coverage on the face, and quantity. Resin also has a higher reject rate than acrylic — bubbles and colour drift are caught at inspection, and the ones that fail are not billed to you but they are in the price.

The minimum is 100 sets per colour, lower than the acrylic line because a resin run is shorter by nature. Bulk lead time is about 2 months; a sample is about 3 weeks.

Getting a quote

Send the Pantone reference, the face artwork and the quantity. If the set ships with racks, a case, a mat or a bag, quote them together — the accessory line is cut to the same footprint, so a coordinated set is no harder than a bare one.
